Does America Have Enough Sense to Reject Bush?

A losing war with thousands of dead and maimed Americans. A military strained to the breaking point. An economy in shambles. Real unemployment in "uncooked" figures around ten per cent. Crumbling infrastructure. Massive power outages every summer. Hundreds of thousands of savage blacks unleashed on the rest of the country after Katrina, and New Orleans still not rebuilt over a year later. A possible mad, Dr. Strangelove-type attack on Iran in the cards.

I'm really getting curious. Is there anything the Republican Party and George W. Bush can do that will stop millions of brain-dead white people from rushing to the polls on November 7th like so many lemmings charging over a Norwegian cliff and pulling that GOP lever?

The news media, generally pro-Democrat, admit that even though in any normal political climate, the Dems would be in like flint, they themselves are not optimistic. Sometimes the ignorance of American white people seems impenetrable and invincible, especially among Christians who believe their lying preachers about Israel being the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy and support Israel and Bush's deranged war accordingly.

Ever since they got into power in 1994, the Republicans have been rigging the districts and tilting the playing field in their favor. This is called gerrymandering and corruption, but no one has raised any serious objections.

The Democrats need 15 net gains to regain control of the 435-member House of Representatives. This means that all the Republicans have to do is bribe, bully, ballot-box-stuff, or otherwise diddle with three or four very close races--or simply convince a large number of very stupid people to vote for them in those districts. In the Senate, the Democrats have to gain six new seats as well as hold on to everything they've got.

Human Events reports that the Republicans don't seem to be worried. In an interview, House Majority Leader John Boehner (R.-Ohio) said "We're going to do just fine." Bush and Karl Rove and the White House neocon cabal all exude the same kind of breezy confidence. Bush has stated repeatedly that he is confident his gang will maintain their stranglehold on both Houses of Congress on November 7th?

Why, in the name of all that is sane? When every poll is predicting a Democratic landslide and telling us that at long last, America is finally starting to get it where George W. Bush and the neocons are concerned, why on earth are these thugs and freaks so confident?

Could it be that they know something that we don't know? Or could it be that they know someone who counts the votes?

Or could it be simply that the democraps are even worse, what with their tax-em' -til- they-bleed-and-give-the-money-to-the-nigs, and gun control policies?
