The Cat Is Out Of The Bag In Publishing

What Mel Gibson's drunken tirade to a sheriff's deputy did for Hollywood, a woman author's angry outburst on the telephone has done for the publishing industry. An insider has dared to let slip in public what everybody in the Manhattan-centered, multi-billion dollar trade already knows: publishing in America is controlled almost entirely by Jews.

The New York Times reports that "Rupert Murdoch personally ordered the dismissal of Judith Regan, the publisher of a widely criticized O. J. Simpson book, after he heard reports of a heated conversation Ms. Regan had with a company lawyer on Friday that included comments that were deemed anti-Semitic."

Specifically, Ms. Regan allegedly complained of a "Jewish cabal" against her in the book industry and stated that "Of all people, Jews should know about ganging up, finding common enemies and telling the big lie." Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

Apparently what happened was that the lawyer, a Jew named Mark Jackson (apparently a name-changer), immediately went running to Jane Friedman, HarperCollins’s Jewish president and chief executive, and ratted Judith Regan out. The Times said "...Jane called Rupert and Rupert said he won’t tolerate that kind of behavior,' said one of the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity....The conversation with Mr. Jackson on Friday afternoon was described by sources as heated and confrontational, even for the famously forceful Ms. Regan. Ms. Regan’s alleged comments, which came in the midst of a tense conversation in which she berated Mr. Jackson, were directed at him and Ms. Friedman, who are Jewish, as well as toward other Jews."

In other words, sounds like a real New York-style screaming match. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that one!

Actually, though, this apparently took place on the phone, with Ms. Regan in Los Angeles. The Times continues, "Later that day, at the ReganBooks offices on Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, a stunned Ms. Regan was confronted by security guards who arrived with boxes and ordered her to leave, according to an account by a HarperCollins executive that was confirmed by another person familiar with the situation."

Ms. Regan's lawyer, one Bert Fields, who is apparently something of a shark in the roiling waters of the L. A. legal system, has been issuing press releases right, left, and center threatening to sue Jane Friedman and Rupert Murdoch and everybody else in sight, etc. etc. Most of these threats, however, seem to have come before Ms. Regan was slapped with the anti-Semitism charge.

In New York and Hollywood high business circles, that's about like an accusation of witchcraft in the Middle Ages; there is no known defense. As Mel Gibson learned to his cost, even the most craven groveling and begging for forgiveness won't get the hose-nosed vampires off your back once you've been marked as a target.

Rupert Murdoch's reaction was interesting. We all knew his bent due to his ownership of Fox News and that network's notorious flacking and toadying for the neocons, Israel, and the drunken midget in the White House, but I was amazed at the speed with which Murdoch jumped when the Jews said frog in this case. One of the weathiest men in the world, Murdoch seems to be nothing more than an errand boy for a band of thieving pushcart peddlers. Lo, how the mighty have fallen!

Interesting, because I always believed Regan was a jewish namechanger, going by her first name and her looks, and by the fact that Howard Stern used to rave about how she helped him get his books published...
