I know that no one will remember this, but it is a historical fact that the United States went to war with Great Britain in 1812 over the Brits' habit of simply boarding any damned ship they please out on the high seas and confiscating cargo and any crew members they felt like impounding.
Today we are (apparently) willing to go to war with Persia in order to defend the right of the British navy to do the very same thing to others that America refused to tolerate in James Madison's time, when directed against ourselves. I suppose it all depends on whose ox is being gored.
Oh, and we lost the War of 1812. Just like we're going to lose this one. With any luck the Persians will burn the White House like the British did in 1813 and this time, we won't build the stupid thing back.
